Dark side of the road

So here it is all our bad experiences so far:
In the state parks of Oregon the hiker/biker camp side is too separated. It is kind of  'let's put these crazy guys far away from the lazy Americans who still prefer to ride a big cars....and it's no problem that we are getting too fat'. Come on.... there is still too many fat people in the US! It is high time to ride the bike. It must be the new fashion! America needs a little shake up from being too comfortable. Too much attachment here to cars. Can you tell me why?

There is too much traffic on 101 for a relaxed riding. That is why we plan to skip a part of the road by car so that we can spend more time off the road. More soon...

  1. I agree about riding on 101. Not fun. But as a resident of the USA I sort of like having the hiker-biker sites away from the cars, generators, oversized BBQs etc, though it does make finding the hiker-biker sites harder.

    1. Well, actually this was the last hiker-biker campsite which was really hard to find. So this blog post is kind of off...It happened in Cape Lookout State Park. And it is a cute story: we didn't find the hiker-biker campsite, so we ended up in the group tent site: nice area in front of the ocean. Wow. It was really a hard day the Cape Lookout did give us a hard time....big hill. So we were happy to find such a nice place to camp, though we had the feeling that we are at the wrong place, but a nice couple from Canada was also camping there so we were assured.
In the morning I was sitting at the table alone (Pal was having a shower). I was in a "morning shock" and the state park officer came and told me that we are at the wrong campsite and we have to move....she also went to the other couple and woke them up...I was shocked and burst into tears, so when the park officer came back and saw me crying she was in a shock too and started to comfort me that it is not so serious...I should't worry so much....we can have breakfast, enjoy the ocean for a minute....so we don't have too move so quickly....she was nice despite of the not so nice start...and she also gave me a sticker "I love Oregon State Parks".......So this was the full story about the hiker-biker campsite too separated and far off. We did not have a single problem to find our campsite on the rest of our way. But the message to all state park is this: please be very gentle to all cyclists as we might be tired after a long road....:o)
